From the grave to the beach...

Yesterday I joined Megan and her friend Annalise on a trip to the Cementerio Central in Barrio Sur. Has made me aware I need to continue brushing up on my Uruguayan history beyond Afro-Uruguayan studies. There were a lot of names I recognized, but can't quite say much about them, except that I know where their street is located. But even with my history deficiency, pretty amazing place.

I originally thought this was the plot for José Soler, a famous Uruguayan
tenor, but I was wrong. No idea who these Solers are.

Probably my favorite photo of the day. Had no idea the
spiderweb was there until after the photo was taken.

After the cemetary, I ended up spending the remainder of the afternoon with Megan and Annalise. They needed to buy some flowers, so I waited outside and made friends with this guy, who according to a sign out front was looking for a girlfriend.

We had some lunch on the roof of Megan's current apartment. I'm a little jealous of this view:

Then we hit the beach for a while, and I learned that you can't have too much sunscreen. This Uruguayan sun is rough:

MERCOSUR.

And aside from transcribing some llamada drumming when I came home, that was a day.
