Megan and I arrived and tried to head to the same spot we watched the first night, but there was no getting through. There were far more people in attendance the second night. Far more energy on both sides of the barricades. We ended up in a great spot, but it was darker and the image quality suffered.
As the night progressed, it hit me that most of this is coming to a close. I hope it's not, but there's always the chance that returning to see, or even be a part of, another Llamadas may not be in the cards.
This post is organized like the last. I've included everything even remotely worth sharing, in order of appearance.
Los bomberos: It's just not a parade without a firetruck. |
Chiquilines (kids) playing with espuma (foam). |
Elumbé
Sarabanda
Tronar de Tambores
(this is the comparsa that won)
Yambo Kenia
La Gozadera
La Figari
Las Cuerdas de Ejido
C1080
(Cuareim Diez-Ochenta)
(This was the winning cuerda de tambores)
Zumbaé
La Carolina
Nigeria
Mi Morena
La Jacinta
La Fuerza
Urafrica
La Magia
La Tangó
Integración
Eleggua
And that's pretty much all, folks. The rest of these show the parade as it made its way on down Isla de Flores, and there's a bad self-taken pic of me to prove I was there.
